Section of Prithvi Highway washed away by heavy rainfall in Pokhara-14

KATHMANDU, June 26: A huge section of the Prithvi Highway in Chauthe, Pokhara Metropolitan City-14, has been washed away due to heavy rains.


The District Police Office, Kaski, reported that the incident occurred at around 6:30 on Wednesday morning. The highway section was damaged after the water flow increased in Ghattekulo, located in Chauthe Anand Tole of Pokhara Metropolitan City-14.

Incessant rains have affected vehicle movement on the Prithvi Highway, causing significant disruptions. Deputy Superintendent of Police, Basanta Kumar Sharma, Information Officer at the District Police Office, Kaski, stated that the road is currently open for one-way traffic.


Sharma explained that a highway section measuring about 5 meters in length and 1.5 meters in width on the right side of the road was washed away. Additionally, another highway section, about seven meters long and one meter wide, approximately 10 meters away from the initial damage was also affected, according to DSP Sharma.
