KATHMANDU, July 20: Sainamaina in Rupandehi recorded the highest rainfall in the country over the past 24 hours ending at 11:00 am on Sunday, according to the Department of Hydrology and Meteorology.
The department said 153.2 millimeters of rainfall was recorded in Sainamaina during the period.

Meteorologist Binu Maharjan said heavy to very heavy rainfall was recorded in some parts of Bagmati, Gandaki, Lumbini, Karnali and Sudurpaschim provinces over the past 24 hours, while Madhesh Province received comparatively little rainfall.
She said no part of the country had experienced heavy rainfall in the six hours prior to 11:00 am, with most places receiving only light to moderate rain. The department recorded 24 millimeters of rainfall in the western Tarai of Lumbini Province during that period.
The department has forecast heavy rainfall at a few places in the hilly and Tarai regions of Koshi, Bagmati, Gandaki and Lumbini provinces tonight and urged people living in areas vulnerable to floods, landslides, inundation and debris flows to remain cautious.
