“We wanted to put the cap at Rs 990. For instance in Lalitpur district while they wanted to keep it at Rs 1,320 we finally agreed at Rs 1,090 as we found that house rent in Kathmandu is much higher than that in Lalitpur district,” Bhandari explained.
The agreement was reached at a meeting attended by Bhandari, Umesh Shrestha, Dr Baburam Pokharel and Private and Boarding School Organization, Nepal (PABSON) President Bhoj Bahadur Shah from the Central Monitoring Committee.
The meeting also included District Education Officer of Kathmandu Gyani Yadav, two district representatives from GAN, one each from PABSON and National Private and Boarding School Organization, Nepal (N-PABSON), and one from Nepal Institutional School Teacher´s Union (ISTU).
The caps for primary and lower secondary schools in Kathmandu were set a few weeks ago.
