Schools to remain closed for one week for election

KATHMANDU, May 4: The government has granted a week-long holiday in school for the upcoming local level election slated for May 14.

KATHMANDU, May 4: The government has granted a week-long holiday in school for the upcoming local level election slated for May 14.



 The cabinet meeting held on Thursday, decided to close the schools from May 8 to May 14 in 34 districts for the election.

Likewise, the government has declared May 14 as a public holiday in 34 districts for the local level poll.


Earlier, the Election Commission (EC) had asked the government to close the educational institutions for seven days -- from May 8 to 14 -- for facilitating the first phase of the local elections.
