A class eight student, Nirvik Thapa, is worried about what would happen if the constitution is not promulgated within the stipulated time. [break]
“I used to be excited to do the numbering initially. But now I am not that interested,” Thapa said. He said that he has grown pessimistic from the news items appearing in the newspapers. He said the situation in the country is scary.
“There is also rise in violence and killings in this part of the country,” Thapa pointed out.
“I was hopeful that things would be better if the constitution is written on time,” he added.
His guardians said that although Nirvik is lazy to wake up early in the morning, he is always excited to place the countdown numbers and carries his duty diligently.
The countdown board has been placed by local civil society group and an NGO to draw the attention of all those political leaders who land at Simara airport.
Even Devendra Gupta who has been placing the numbers on the similar board at Jitpur Chowk is now disappointed. Gupta said he is sad about the current state of affairs in the country.
“I am reducing the number of days with my own hands, but the political leaders are still engaged in power struggle,” Gupta complained.
Even other school-going children are worried over the constitution drafting process. Himalaya Simkhada of Simara said, “We are worried over the present situation. Our eyes fall on the newspapers and the countdown board all at once.”
Simkhada said that the people in this part of the country are worried to see the leaders engaged in power game and also on the ongoing struggle in the Tarai.
