KATHMANDU, April 3: Janamat Party and Nagarik Unmukti Party, two Terai-Madhesh-based political parties, are close to unification. Leaders from both sides have held intensive discussions in recent days to finalize the process. They plan to unite the parties to raise national issues and public concerns more effectively, according to party leaders. Task forces from both parties have held multiple meetings to reach a consensus, while discussions continue at both parties’ task forces and top leadership levels.

Janamat Party's Vice Chairman Abdul Khan stated that leaders have been engaging in internal and multilateral discussions to finalize the merger, with plans to announce the unification by April 28. "We are working to complete the merger process by April 28," said Khan, who also heads Janamat's task force. "We have already finalized the new party's name, flag, and election symbol. The party's statute is being drafted, and only the finalization of office bearers remains."

Coordinator Khan added that the central committees of both parties will approve the unified statute in mid-April, followed by an official merger announcement in the second week. Leaders have spent the past two months working on the unification, and the process gained momentum after both parties formed task forces to facilitate the merger.
