SC writ sought to bring Nepalis stranded in Dharchula

KATHMANDU, April 2: A writ petition was filed on Wednesday demanding the apex court's order to bring Nepali citizens currently stranded in Dharchula, an Indian border town across the Mahakali River in Darchula district.

The writ petition was filed demanding the apex court's order to bring Nepalis, who remain stranded in the Indian border town after the governments of Nepal and India imposed a lockdown to stem the spread of the coronavirus pandemic.

The petition was filed by a group of lawyers including Manish Shrestha.

The petitioner has also demanded that the Nepalis be brought to Nepal and placed under quarantine. The petition was claimed that Article 16(1) 17 18 and 35 of the Constitutions are violated despite the right against the expulsion to every citizens.
