KATHMANDU, Aug 7: Supreme Court on Sunday stayed the expansion of Kalanki-Nagdhunga road pending the next order from the court.
Responding to a writ petition filed by Sanu Shrestha and 46 other locals, the division bench of Justices Kedar Prasad Chalise and Dr Aananda Mohan Bhattarai stated that the road expansion without completing the set procedure could cause irreparable loss to the locals of the area.
Shrestha and 46 other locals had filed a writ petition on February 23 claiming that the expansion work was being carried forward without completing the process of compensating them and ignoring the set procedures.
