A group of advocates, including Sharmila Shrestha, on Friday moved the apex court stating that the government has failed to provide access of more than 50 percent of the women in the country to reproductive health services.

The writ petitioners have urged SC to issue an appropriate order so as to ensure rights to reproductive health guaranteed by Article 20 (2) of the interim constitution.

Similarly, the writ petitioners have also demanded arrangements for distribution of contraceptives at government health institutions from 10 am to 5 pm.

The prime minister´s office, ministry of health and population, ministry of women, children and social welfare and finance ministry, among others, have been named as defendants in the writ petition.
