KATHMANDU, Sept 21: The Supreme Court (SC) has refused to issue an interim order against the appointment of Kul Man Singh as the Managing Director of Nepal Electricity Authority (NEA). The decision of the apex court has paved the way for Ghising to continue his work as the chief of the state-owned power utility.

The government on August 11 appointed Ghising as the Managing Director of the NEA, while transferring the incumbent NEA chief Hitendra Dev Shakya to the Energy Commission. Shakya, however, knocked on the doors of the Supreme Court, claiming that he had been dealt with injustice. He demanded his reinstatement at the NEA.

A single bench of Chief Justice Cholendra SJB Rana on Tuesday refused to issue an interim order against Ghising's appointment as demanded by the petitioner. The single bench led by CJ Rana has issued a show cause notice against the government for the appointment of Ghising. This has paved the way for Ghising to continue his work till the apex court issues the final verdict on the case.
