KATHMANDU, Mar 7: The Supreme Court on Tuesday referred a contempt of court case against Kantipur publications to the full bench considering the serious nature of the case.
A division bench of justices Dambar Bahadur Shahi and Bam Kumar Shrestha referred the case to a larger full bench citing Rule 22(F) of the Supreme Court Rules, 2017.
SC shifts contempt case against Kantipur to another bench
The bench on Tuesday completed recording the statements of Kantipur Publications Managing Director Kailash Sirohiya, Editor-in-Chief Sudhir Sharma and reporter Krishna Gyawali. Kantipur Director Swastika Sirohiya had recorded her statement on Sunday.
Meanwhile, the Supreme Court on Tuesday ordered Dr Govinda KC to appear before the court within 24 hours to face yet another contempt of court case.
A single bench of Chief Justice Gopal Parajuli issued the summons to Dr KC asking the latter to furnish written clarification on why he repeatedly disrespected the apex court. This is the second contempt of court case filed against Dr KC.
