KATHMANDU, May 2: The Supreme Court has postponed the hearings on writ petition filed by DIG Nawaraj Silwal challenging the government decision to promote Prakash Aryal to the post of Inspector General of Nepal Police.
Chief Justice Sushila Karki, who is suspended after 249 lawmakers from Nepali Congress and CPN (Maoist Center) registered impeachment motion against her in the Parliament, had scheduled the writ petitions for hearings on Tuesday but the apex court postponed the hearings of the controversial case.
Silwal had filed writ petition claiming that the government promoted Aryal by tampering the annual performance reports while the government has been alleging Silwal of tampering the classified government documents and presenting it to the court.
Earlier, the SC had scrapped government decision to promote DIG Jaya Bahadur Chand to IGP. Following it, the government appointed Aryal as the IGP.
