KATHMANDU, June 6:  The Supreme Court (SC) on Sunday issued an interim order not to implement the decision of Rastriya Janamorcha (RJM) to relieve Krishna Thapa of the membership of Gandaki Province Assembly.

Hearing the writ petition filed by Thapa, a single bench of Justice Kumar Chudal, ruled the defendants to allow Thapa to carry out his duties as the member of the provincial assembly.

Thapa, who was elected as a provincial assembly member from Baglung district representing the RJM, was sacked as the province assembly member after he refused to support the opposition alliance comprising the Nepali Congress (NC), CPN-UML, Janata Samajbadi Party (JSP) and RJM while staking a claim for the new government formation in the province.

Following his denial, the opposition party failed to form a new government and ruling CPN-UML’s parliamentary party leader in the province was appointed as the new Chief Minister in his capacity as the leader of the largest political party in the province assembly.
