KATHMANDU, March 15: Supreme Court on Wednesday issued an interim order to conduct Free Students Union (FSU) elections at Ratnarajya Laxmi Campus, Kathmandu.
FSU Election: Things to Consider
Responding to a writ petition filed by Tapendra Bahadur Shahi, the single bench of justice Ishwar Prasad Khatiwada issued the interim order. According to SC's Deputy spokesman Bishwa Paudel, the bench also asked the defendants to furnish written statement on why the election was cancelled.
Shahi, the candidate for the position of FSU president from the CPN-UML's student wing All Nepal National Free Students Union (ANNFSU), had filed the writ petition after the college administration cancelled the election as per the directives of the chief district officer of Kathmandu. The District Administration Office had directed the campus administration not to hold the FSU election expressing security concerns and the election code of conduct issued by the Election Commission for the upcoming local level elections.
