KATHMANDU, March 15: Supreme Court on Wednesday issued an interim order to hold Free Student Union (FSU) election at Ratnarajya Laxmi Campus, Kathmandu.
Responding to a writ petition filed by Tapendra Bahadur Shahi, the single bench of Justice Ishwar Prasad Khatiwada issued interim order to hold the FSU election. According to SC's Deputy Spokesperson Bishwa Paudel the bench also asked the defendants to furnish written statement on why the election was cancelled.
FSU Election: Things to Consider
Shahi, the candidate for the position of FSU President from CPN-UML's student wing All Nepal Free Student Union (ANFSU), had filed writ petition after the campus administration cancelled the election as per the directives of Chief District Officer of Kathmandu. The District Administration Office had directed the campus administration not to hold the FSU election expressing concern on security and the election code of conduct issued by the Election Commission for the upcoming local level elections.
Following it Shahi had moved the apex court with the writ petition.
