KATHMANDU, June 26: The Supreme Court on Friday ordered authorities to freeze the assets of Shree Distillery based in Nawalparasi district by nullifying its earlier decision that let the liquor company to use the property. Justices Khil Raj Regmi and Mohan Prakash Sitoula passed the order after a hearing on a tax evasion charge against the company.
The company has been accused of evading taxes worth Rs 870 million and the Department of the Revenue Investigation (DIR) had freezed its property. The company is owned by Mathura Prasad Maskey who had moved the SC four years ago against the DIR action.
