KATHMANDU, July 20: The Supreme Court on Tuesday asked the Election Commission to furnish a copy of its decision to conduct re-voting in the ward number 19 of Bharatpur Metropolitan City.

According to the Supreme Courts website, the division bench of Acting Chief Justice Gopal Parajuli and Justice Hari Krishna Karki ordered the EC to furnish a copy of its decision during the hearing on the writ petition demanding court order to resume vote counting in Bharatpur.

Earlier, a single bench of Justice Cholendra SJB Rana had asked both sides to attend the hearing to decide whether to continue the interim order.

CPN-UML candidate for a ward member in Bharatpur-19 Gunjaman Bishwakarma had filed the writ petition demanding apex court's order to resume vote counting after the Election Commission decided for re-voting in ward-19 of Bharatpur.

The EC took the decision as CPN (Maoist Center) cadres tore around 90 ballot papers during the vote count of ward-19 of Bharatpur Metropolitan City fearing possible defeat of their election candidate.
