Sankata broke the deadlock three minutes after the interval when Ongono scored on a rebounder off Abahani Krira Chakra’s custodian. Barsat Gurung doubled the advantage in the 52nd minute with a header in a cross from Ongono. Ongono made it 3-0 for Sankata with his second in the 64th minute when he collected Ud Gurung’s pass and unleashed a powerful shot past the custodian. Besides this, Sankata also wasted some chances.
Abahani Krira Chakra scored a consolation goal through Tarik Hasan Gafur four minutes from time. Sankata’s second choice goalkeeper Dipesh Yadav, who replaced Pierre Havre in the 80th minute, conceded the goal.
Earlier, Abahani Krira Chakra dominated ball possession during the first half but could not find a way past Sankata’s resolute defense. Durgapur Spat FC of Kolkata will lock horns with Armed Police Force in the first semifinal to be played on Saturday.
