Sale of low quality fertilizer rampant

BHAKTAPUR, June 16: With the unavailability of chemical fertilizers as the main rice transplanting season began, the illegally imported low quality fertilizers are being sold openly in Bhaktapur.



Police and local administration are mere spectators even as such fertilizers are being sold at Rs 1,400 to Rs 1,600 per sack in Jagati, Kamalbinayak and Sukuldhoka.[break]



CDO Dipakraj Nepal and SP Dipak Ranjit of Metropolitan Police Circle Dipak Ranjit said they are unaware of the selling of illegally imported low quality fertilizers.



Meanwhile, police said they have seized a truck of fertilizers imported illegally from Birgunj at Jagati Tuesday.
