The oldest transport organization, Sajha Yatayat, will be plying in Kathmandu Valley from Sunday, 12 years after its services had been disrupted owing to various reasons including increasing political intervening. [break]
Sajha was a very popular means of public transportation then. It now comes equipped with modern facilities in green colors and under the leadership of a new management and different identity.
The Sajha Yatayat Cooperatives has claimed that it would provide cheap, comfortable, and secure services with Euro-3 standard buses. It has purchased 16 modern buses at around Rs. 55 million from Indian Tata Company.
The Sajha has introduced a new practice in public transport with a passenger getting to travel in the bus throughout a day once he/she purchased a ticket for any route. For the security of the passengers CCTVs have been installed in the buses along with an LCD screen for the entertainment and information while in the trip.
The 55-seater buses would be initially operated in two trunk routes. The first route begins from Lagankhel of Lalitpur and reach new Bus Park through Jawalakhel-Tripureshwor- Jamal Maharajgunj and Basundhara Chowk.
The other route is Kalanki to Sinamangal of Kathmandu traveling through Soalteemod, Kalimati, Tripureshwor, Maitighar, Nayabaneshwor and finally to Tribhuvan International Airport.
The bus will operate from 5:00 am to 11:00 pm throughout the week. Sajha offers free services on Saturday as an inaugural offer.
