Dipak Gurung, who resides in Honk Kong, gave away Rs 100,000 in his mother Jayakumari´s name. Namobudhha Ama Samaj of Hong Kong and Bhanu Subedi of Pokhara contributed Rs 51,570 each for the construction of the academy building.[break]
Sera Gurung, a resident of the UK, donated Rs 113,505 along with an additional sum of Rs 60,000 for running the academy. Gurung has been providing Rs 60,000 annually for running the academy for the last four years.
Similarly, five other Nepalis residing in Hong Kong donated Rs 50,000.
The donors handed over the money to Bikram Thakali, the president of the club on Monday.
The club has so far received financial assistance worth more than Rs 5.3 million from Pokhara as well as from Qatar, Hong Kong, the UK and other countries for the construction of the academy.
The club had bought 26 ropanis land for the academy in Pokhara-17, Dovilla, some four years ago. They have already started construction on a two-storied building which is yet to be completed.
According to Thakali, the president of the club, the academy has spent more than Rs 7.7 million for the construction of the building. "So far we have been carrying out construction works with financial support from donors and are assured of getting more support in future as well," Thakali said, adding, "We will give continuity to construction works even by taking loans."
According to the club, they have received Rs 2.73 million from Nepalis residing in the UK, Rs 930,000 from Pokhara Academy Children Trust (PACT), UK, and Rs 421,000 from Doha, Qatar. Similarly, they have received Rs 210,000 from Hong Kong and Rs 625,000 from Pokhara.
