KATHMANDU, Feb 23: The wait for Sachs MadAss 125, a two-wheeler manufactured by Sachs Motorcycles, a German automotive company, is finally going to be over. According to Eco Auto, a new company under Saakha Group, the bike will arrive in the Nepali market this week.

“Though the first consignment of the bike will arrive in Nepal this week, we will commercially launch the bike only in the end of March. We will, however, allow customers to take test rides soon after the bikes arrive in the market so that we can get feedbacks from them,” said Prabal Saakha, managing director of Saakha Group.[break]

Sachs is a one of the world´s oldest motorcycle manufacturers founded in 1886. It started making motorcycles in 1904.

“Customers will be surprised upon taking a look at the bike and might question if it is a motorcycle, a scooter or a bicycle, as its appearance looks quite confusing,” said Saakha. He added that the bike is simple to maintain, easy to adjust and inexpensive to upgrade.

As the bike looks really different than those available in the Nepali market, the company is confident that the new and unique product will soon gain popularity in the Nepali market.

Sachs MadAss is the smallest naked bike that incorporates five-liter fuel tank into the frame and has no external bodywork. It has a stainless steel under-seat exhaust, a four-speed manual gear box or automatic transmission, and dual hydraulic disc brake. The under-seat muffler of the bike incorporates exhaust catalyst technology to reduce air pollution and meet Euro III emission standard.

Saakha said the bike is compact and agile, yet looks wildly aggressive. The bike is equipped with an air-cooled 124 cc, four-stroke engine. It has a displacement of 119.7 cc and can generate a peak power of 6 kw at 8,400 rpm and a maximum torque of 9 nm at 5,400 rpm.

“The genius of the MadAss lies in its simplicity. The bike has no center stand, no storage compartments, racks or windshield. So it can be said it is a motorcycle distilled to its purest form,” said Saakha.

The bike comes with both electric and kick start; and the company claims it provides a mileage of 50 km per liter. In this regard, MadAss is the best bike for Nepal where traffic congestion and fuel crisis are quite a common phenomenon, Saakha said.

The bike also features 16-inch tubeless tyres mounted on alloy rims and 260mm front disc brake with piston caliper and 215mm rear disc brake with floating piston caliper that provides better stopping power. The bike is very light as it weighs only 100 kg and is perfect for people of all age groups.

According to the company, the bikes will be available in 5 different colors: matte black, graphite, sun yellow, bright silver and racing red.

“The bike is likely to be priced in the range of Rs 175,000 to Rs 185,000. The official price will be announced once we receive the first consignment of the bike this week,” said Saakha.
