Russian man dies in boat capsize

TAPLEJUNG, Oct 21: A tourist died while two others sustained injuries as their raft capsized in Tamor River on Thursday morning.



The deceased has been identied as Dave Olek, a Russian national. The injured are undergoing treatment at a local hospital and their identities are not known. [break]



According to Tanka Khatiwada, a local resident, of the five rafts, which set off from a confluence of Taplejung for Chatara of Sunsari, two capsized within minutes.



The accident took place just one kilometers downstream the confluence.



Locals said the Himalaya river swollen shortly after the five rafts set off. Police and locals had quickly swung into action for rescue.



Meanwhile, according to Republica correspondent, the body of a British national Graeme Budge, who drowned in Fewa Lake Monday evening, has been found. Locals saw his body floating in the lake.



The 49 year old Briton had fallen into the lake after he slipped off the boat while posing for a photo. His friend William Duncan Munro, who jumped into the lake to help Budge, was immediately rescued by locals.
