DHADING, April 6: Chairperson of Khaniyabas Rural Municipality, Rana Bahadur Tamang, has been assaulted at Bachchhala.
A group of people attacked Tamang, who is also the Nepali Congress (NC) Province Constituency President, in the course of a discussion held to recommend the party’s candidate for ward chairperson for the upcoming local elections.

Chairperson Tamang said a group led by NC cadre Raju Pakhrin attacked him when the discussion regarding ‘ticket recommendation’ was underway.
Pakhrin and Tamang had been engaged in a dispute regarding ward-3 ticket recommendation from the party.
Injured Tamang is undergoing treatment at Satyadevi Health Post. Police arrested Pakhrin last night. Investigation into the incident is underway, police said.
