Price of gold, on the other hand, went down by Rs 515 per 10 grams in the domestic market over the week as the price of yellow metal fell in the international bullion market.
CURRENCY
Nepali rupee shed 37 paisa against US dollar over the week. Nepal Rastra Bank (NRB), the central monetary authority, opened currency trading on Sunday with exchange rate of US dollar fixed at Rs 98.21. [break]
Rupee gained 20 paisa on Monday to close the market at 98.01. It, however, shed 27 paisa to 98.28 on Tuesday and another 76 paisa to 99.04 on Wednesday. Rupee continued its losing streak on Thursday as well, as it shed 20 paisa to settle at 99.24 on Friday.
The local currency, however, bounced back on Friday - the last trading day of the week, gaining 66 paisa to at 98.58.
According to Reuters, the Indian rupee erased the entire day´s gains to fall to as low as 61.58 on Friday. “It had risen to 60.92 in the morning session on Friday, the highest level since August 18,” Reuters reported.
Meanwhile, rupee dropped Rs 1.03 against Euro and Rs 1.64 against pound sterling over the week. A Euro was valued at Rs 134.29 on Friday, while the Pound Sterling was exchanged at Rs 158.56.
BULLION
Gold price dropped by Rs 515 per 10 grams this week. Bullion trading opened on Thursday as the market was closed since Friday due to Dashain holiday. Gold was traded at Rs 46,725 per 10 grams on Thursday, down from Rs 47,670 per 10 grams recorded last Friday.
On Friday, the last trading day of the week, gold price went up by Rs 430 per 10 grams to Rs 47,155 per 10 grams.
Silver price also came down this week. On Friday, silver was traded at Rs 780 per 10 grams.
