BUTWAL, Feb 26: Host Rupandehi XI has advanced to the semifinals of the ongoing Tilottama Gold Cup Football Tournament defeating Dharan Football Club 2-1 on Sunday.
Rupandehi XI will now take on the winner between Tribhuvan Army Club and Nepal Police Club in the last four.
Laxman Ruchal and Ajay BK scored one goal each for Rupandehi while Kalu Thapa of the same team gifted a goal to visiting side Dharan.
In the quarterfinal match played at ANFA Technical Center, Butwal, Laxman Ruchal gave lead to Rupandehi in the 11th minute. But Kalu Thapa scoring an own goal in the 30th minute saw Dharan coming back in the game. Seven minutes later Ajay BK scoring a brilliant freekick goal from 20 yards for the home team. Rupandehi's Laxman Khadka was declared the man-of-the-match.
On Monday, CMG Club Sankata and Armed Police Force will vie in another quarterfinal clash.
