Ruling parties push for May 28 agreement implementation

KATHMANDU, May 30: A meeting of 10 ruling parties held at the prime minister’s residence in Baluwatar Sunday stressed implementation of the three-point agreement reached between the three major parties on Friday night.



Of the three-point agreement, one related to extension of the Constituent Assembly tenure has already been implemented.[break]



The meeting concluded that the prime minister should resign to pave the way for formation of a national consensus government only after the UCPN (Maoist) implements the commitment to integration and rehabilitation of its army combatants as per the Comprehensive Peace Pact, disbands the paramilitary structure of YCL and returns the seized properties.



The 10 parties have urged top leaders of the three main parties to immediately implement the agreement.



Talking to RSS after the meeting, General Secretary of Madhesi Janadhikar Forum (Loktantrik) Jitendra Narayan Dev said discussion was held on speeding up the remaining work of the peace process.



He said the prime minister, Nepali Congress and CPN-UML leaders apprised the other parties of the three-point agreement in the meeting.
