KATHMANDU, Dec 21: A day after the Standing Committee meeting of the ruling Nepal Communist Party (NCP) decided to take disciplinary action against the party’s chairperson KP Sharma Oli for his act of dissolving the House of Representatives and announcing midterm elections, the party informed the Election Commission (EC) about the same on Monday.
On behalf of his party, Lila Mani Pokharel, a Standing Committee member, submitted a letter to the election body about the party's decision of taking disciplinary action against party chairperson and Prime Minister Oli for his act of dissolving the House of Representatives and announcing midterm elections.

"The Standing Committee's decision to take action against Oli must be conveyed to the EC before endorsing the same from the party's Central Committee meeting because the EC does not recognize the Standing Committee," Pokharel said.
In the letter, the NCP said that the Central Committee meeting will endorse the Standing Committee's decision of taking action against Oli. The party has also provided reasons to the EC for taking action against Oli, Pokharel said.
