SARLAHI, Nov 24: The ruling alliance’s candidate for the election to the House of Representatives (HoR) in the Sarlahi’s electoral constituency-1, Ram Prakash Chaudhary of the Loktantrik Samajwadi Party, has emerged victorious in the election.
He defeated his nearest rival Man Bahadur Khadka, an independent candidate, by a margin of 6,434 votes, according to the Office of the Chief Returning Officer. Khadka, an outgoing mayor of Lalbandi Municipality, was in the election fray as an independent candidate after he could not get a ticket from the CPN-UML.

Chaudhary, a former inspector of Nepal Police, obtained 24,838 votes while Khadka secured 18,404 votes.
A total of 10 candidates had competed in the federal election from Sarlahi-1. Janata Samajbadi Party Nepal’s candidate secured the third position with 14,255 votes.
