MELAMCHI, Nov 25: Nepali Congress (NC) candidate Mohan Bahadur Basnet has won the election to the House of Representatives (HoR) from Sindhupalchok electoral constituency no 2. He defeated CPN-UML candidate Sher Bahadur Tamang by a margin of 11,874 votes.
Post of Deputy Speaker remains vacant in HoR
Basnet garnered 39,367 votes and Tamang 27,493 in the elections held on November 20, said District Election Officer Bikas Rijal. This is the first time that the NC has won the HoR seat from Sindhupalchok-2. Tamang had won the HoR elections held in 2070 BS and 2074 BS.
Meanwhile, Maoist Centre's Yubaraj Dulal has been elected the Province Assembly (PA) member from Sindhupalchok 2 A and NC's Krishna Kumar Tamang has been elected from PA constituency 2B.
