KATHMANDU, Dec 27: The Supreme Court (SC) on Monday ordered government authorities to furnish written clarification on the alleged controversial activities that Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Foreign Affair *Sujata Koirala´s son-in-law Rubel Chaudhary has been found to be involved in.

A single bench of Apex Court Justice Bharat Raj Uprety ordered the defendants to furnish written clarification within 15 days as to why they have been tight lipped over the Rubel´s illicit business in Nepal.[break]

"The bench hereby orders those made defendants in the writ petition to furnish written clarifications," reads the order. Prime Minister, Deputy Prime minister Koirala, home minister, police chief and Chaudhary have been made defendants in the writ petition.

The petition filed by Daindra Bahadur Thakuri has sought to move the SC for initiating legal actions against Chaudhary claiming that the latter was involved in various scams in Nepal for the last five years but was protected politically.

The petition also alleges that Chaudhary has the protection of his mother-in-law and Deputy Prime Minister Koirala.

According to the petitioner, Rubel has long been involved in international call bypass and other various scams.
