KATHMANDU, June 27: Rubel Choudhary, the son-in-law of Nepali Congress leader Sujata Koirala, has left Kathmandu for Dhaka, despite the fact that police were told to keep a tight vigil on the Bangladeshi national, who was due to be questioned in connection with his alleged role in various scams.

Choudhary flew to his home country from Tribhuvan International Airport, Sunday afternoon on a Biman Bangladesh flight, reports said, adding that the home ministry and the Nepal Police Headquarters did nothing to prevent him from departing even though authorities had been alerted about his entrance at the airport. He had reached the airport as an ordinary passenger. [break]

Earlier on, the Commission for Investigation of Abuse of Authority (CIAA) had served a directive to the police headquarters, instructing it to keep a close watch on Choudhary, who have been linked with the multimillion dollar Sudan scam and illegal VoIP business.
