RSP lawmaker Dhakal demands immediate release of youths arrested on charge of sloganeering

KATHMANDU, Aug 28: Rastriya Swatantra Party (RSP) lawmaker Hari Dhakal has demanded the immediate release of the youths arrested by the police on the charge of sloganeering in Tundikhel.


Speaking in the Lower House of Parliament on Wednesday, Dhakal said, “One cannot be arrested just for warning the dishonest people in Singha Durbar. I demand the immediate release of those youths.”

Dhakal also stated that the state should be able to listen to the criticisms made by the youths.


On Wednesday, the police arrested two youths on charges of sloganeering during the Gaura Festival at Tundikhel while Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli and Nepali Congress President Sher Bahadur Deuba were delivering speeches.


According to the police, the arrestees, Gopiram Jaishi from Surkhet and Ram Bahadur Budha from Achham, are under detention and investigation.
