Rs 50 million spent on PM Dahal's two-week tour to US and China; PM criticized for ‘unnecessary spending during economic crisis’

KATHMANDU, Dec 22: It has been revealed that Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal, who embarked on a two-week visit to the United States and China with a large delegation, incurred an expenditure of approximately Rs 50 million.

KATHMANDU, Dec 22: It has been revealed that Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal, who embarked on a two-week visit to the United States and China with a large delegation, incurred an expenditure of approximately Rs 50 million.


As per the Ministry of Finance, Rs 47.42 million has been disbursed for the travel expenses related to the 78th United Nations General Assembly and the Prime Minister's delegation during the official visit to China. The finance ministry released this amount in the name of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

The Prime Minister commenced his journey to the United States on September 16 and addressed the General Assembly on September 21. Subsequently, he traveled to China on September 22, where he attended the opening ceremony of the Asian Games. Following this, he visited various Chinese states before returning home.


The Prime Minister was criticized for undertaking a two-week tour during a time of economic crisis in the country.
