KATHMANDU, August 7: The Rastriya Prajatantra Party (RPP) has requested the government to immediately relocate the flood and landslide victims of Melamchi and the locals of nearby settlements to safe places.
Chairperson of RPP, Pashupati Samsher Rana and leaders of the party held a meeting with Prime Minister Sher Bahadur Deuba at his residence in Baluwatar to request relief items and supplies for the flood and landslide victims on Saturday.

According to Chairman Rana, the party leaders met with PM Deuba to make the government aware of the problems faced by the victims of Melamchi and to request for the management and relocation of locals to a safe place.
The RPP also requested the government to provide compensation to the people who lost their family members in the natural disasters. Similarly, the party has made the government aware of physical infrastructures that were destroyed by the floods and stressed the need for their repairs as soon as possible.
“Bridges, roads and local infrastructures need to be rebuilt. A safe place needs to be set up for the locals to stay,” Rana said. “Compensation should be provided to the families who are victimized by the disasters. We have urged the PM to address the problems of the people of Melamchi immediately,” he said.
In addition, the party has requested the government to build embankments along the river to protect Melamchi and nearby agricultural land from floods. Chairman Rana also expressed his trust in the government to provide proper relief to the people of the flood-hit areas as soon as possible.
