According to the traders who introduced their new collection recently targeting the winter season, upward revision in prices has pushed down sales by around 10 percent compared to the last winter. [break]
“The sale of branded jackets was on the rise in recent days due to growing awareness about quality among Nepali customers. But rise in prices have dented sales to some extent,” said Pema Tamang, sales executive of Puma at Sherpa Mall. “We import Puma winter jackets from Vietnam and India. They are priced between Rs 2,990 and Rs 8,000.”
Tamang added that price of Puma down jackets has increased by Rs 1,000 per unit in recent days. Down jackets by Puma starts from Rs 22,000.
Dilip KC, manager of Reebok store at Durbar Marg, said price of entry level Reebok jackets has increased by around Rs 1,000. “Despite rise in price, we expect sales to pick up in the coming days because Rebook winter apparel are manufactured by using light fabrics that make our products light and comfortable to wear,” he added.
Reebok apparels come to Nepal from countries like Vietnam and Indonesia.
Winter apparels by Giordano have also become dearer in the market. Ram Pyakurel, manager of Giordano store at Sherpa Mall, said price of major apparels has increased due to rise in their prices in the international market. “Price has increased in range of Rs 500-Rs 1,000 per unit,” Pyakurel said, adding that Giordano jackets are priced between Rs 4,000 to Rs 16,000.
Price of Giordano down jackets starts from Rs 16,000, up from last year´s Rs 15,000, according to Pyakurel.
