Rijan wins silver in Asian kick-boxing

KATHMANDU, Aug 5: Nepali woman kick-boxing player Rijan Thapa Magar bagged silver medal on Tuesday in the WAKO Asian Kick-boxing Championship being held in Pune, India.



Rijan faced 10-6 defeat at the hands of Yogita Khande of India in the final of light kick-boxing section of women's 60 kg category.

However, other players produced disappointing results in the championship that also serves as the selection tournament for the World Kick-boxing Championship to be held in Peru in 2017.


In men's score fighting sections, Bibek Lama faced 4-10 defeat in 57 kg category, while Khagendra Pun Magar faced 6-10 defeat against Korean opponents.


Similarly, Prakash Bista, who conceded four minus points, was beaten by 2-0 in ring-fighting against a Turkish player. Prakash was slapped with one negative point for delaying to enter the ring.
