BARDIYA, Oct 24: A one-horned rhino in Baghmachan area of the Bardiya National Park has given birth to a male calf on Saturday.

Assistant Conservation Officer Ramesh Thapa said the calf is in good health and will be given a name after three months.

This is the second instance of rhino giving birth in the national park in the past three months and his has taken the total rhino count in the park to 25.

Eighty-four rhinos were brought here from Chitwan National Park 10 years ago but uncontrolled poaching has significantly reduced the rhino population.
