Revenue collection up by 22%

KATHMANDU, June 25: The government has reported 22 percent rise in revenue mobilization during the first 11 months months of fiscal year 2012/13.

According to the finance ministry, revenue collection during the period stood at Rs 257.46 billion. Of the amount, Rs 225.85 billion was collected under tax revenue and remaining Rs 31.61 billion under non-tax revenue.[break]



The government collected Rs 51.35 billion in customs duty during the review period, a hike of 33.44 percent compared to amount mobilized in the same period in the last fiscal year. Similarly, VAT increased by 16.67 percent to Rs 75.53 billion and excise duty mobilization went up by 22.17 percent to Rs 32.56 billion. Likewise, collection of income tax grew by 30.75 percent to Rs 54.62 billion.



Collection of registration fee and vehicle tax combined increased by 23.38 percent during the review period to Rs 8.72 billion. Revenue collected under non-tax heading

During the 11th month ending mid-June, the government mobilized Rs 19.2 billion in tax revenue and Rs 3.8 billion in non-tax revenue. Total revenue mobilization during the month increased by 10.18 percent compared to same month in the last fiscal year.
