Revenue collection grows by 14pc

KATHMANDU, Feb. 13: Deputy Prime Minister and Finance Minister Bharat Mohan Adhikari on Sunday said the government will give priority to the development programmes that help strengthen and stabilize democracy. [break]



Speaking at a programme organized by the Ministry on his honor, the newly elected finance minister said the government should bring new programmes to uplift the livelihood of the rural people, farmers, Haliya and Kamaiya.



He stressed on the need for introducing better programmes in revenue, finance and development sectors adding that there are lots of challenges to do more in agricultural and finance sectors to build a robust economy.



He expressed confidence that the revenue administration will be able to collect revenue according to the target.



Secretary at the Ministry Rameshwor Khanal said the budget presented by Adhikari in 2051 BS turned a milestone for the village development.



Revenue Secretary Krishna Hari Baskota said the revenue collection was increased by 14 per cent in the last month though there was a slow performance in the previous months.



 Baskota said there have been massive changes in tax administration lately.



Governor of the Nepal Rastra Bank Dr. Yubraj Khatiwada said country´s economic growth rate was 4.5 per cent and loss in balance of payment is at around Rs 3 billion.



Khatiwada said the central bank was making some changes on its policy level to manage the investment in real estate.
