According to Chief Tax Officer Premraj Pokhrel, the office met its revenue targets every month from Shrawan to Kartik. Over the four months, the office collected NPR 539,466,500, exceeding the target of NPR 423,681,400 by 27.3 percent. “Compared to the previous fiscal year, revenue collection increased by 51.5 percent. We have achieved our targets in all four months,” he said. Pokhrel also noted that the largest portion of revenue comes from internal fees, accounting for 82.6 percent of the total collection. “Value-added tax and income tax collections have also been strong, but the bulk still comes from internal fees,” he added.
In fiscal year 2081/82, the office had collected NPR 356,026,100 during the same four-month period. Pokhrel attributed this year’s excellent performance to effective teamwork between industrialists, business operators, and tax administration staff. The Bhairahawa Internal Revenue Office currently serves more than 64,000 taxpayers.
