“Bhattarai was victimized for similar reasons in the past as well,” Poudel, who is close to Dr Bhattarai, told media persons at an interaction. [break]“Party leadership is planning to take action against him for speaking against party leadership. If that is done, we will have no alternative other than to retaliate.”
Poudel claimed that it was conspiracy of the faction opposed to Bhattarai to finish him off as many within the Maoist party are afraid with his ideological clarity. He also said it was inappropriate to accuse Dr Bhattarai of being pro-Indian.
Arguing that the line of Dr Bhattarai to give priority to peace and constitution writing is appropriate in the current political context, Poudel complained that the Maoists leadership had failed to understand him.
Poudel also claimed that Dr Bhattarai is the suitable candidate for the post of party´s parliamentary leader as he can run parliamentary forum in an effective manner.
Meanwhile, another Maoist Vice Chairman Narayankaji Shrestha refuted media reports that the party would take disciplinary action against Dr Bhattarai.
Speaking at an interaction organized by Reporters´ Club Nepal on Friday, Shrestha said the CC meeting called for Monday would discuss the issue of reshuffling party responsibilities among the party leaders.
