What’s your new album like?
This is my third album and I’m very excited about its release. The other two were “Reshma” and “Mai thuli bhaichhu re” released in 2002 and 2007 respectively. My new album has similar ingredients. You’ll find peppy songs, and it’s a very happy album. There are seven songs in Landmark, composed by the likes of Shiva Mukhiya, Biju Bajracharya, Mahesh Khadka, Roj Moktan, and Sugam Pokharel.
Any particular song in the album that you think will stand out?
I’m hoping “Huri ayo, khosi lagyo chunari” penned by Yadav Kharel and set to music by Biju Bajracharya will turn out to be a crowd pleaser. The other song I’m really rooting for is “Radha Rani,” composed by Mahesh Khadka, and it should be a pleasant listening as well.
Is there a particular singer, national or international, with whom you would like to do duets?
I was on cloud nine when I got the opportunity to work with Sugam Pokharel in my upcoming album. And nothing would please me more than doing duets with him. I’m sure the opportunity will arise, and I won’t miss it. (Laughs) I’m keeping my fingers crossed.

How do you balance being a mother and pop icon?
When my son was small, it was a bit challenging. But now that he’s all grown up, it has made life easier. He currently studies in the eighth grade at Galaxy Public School, and is very supportive of my work. In fact, he’s often asked by his friends to introduce them to me. He’s such a sweetheart.
Share with us your fitness regime?
I love making new friends. I’m very social by nature. I guess being happy is what keeps me fit. And yes, I do enjoy dancing, a lot. I do have a gym membership but I only drop in there occasionally. (Smiles)
Anything you would like to clear about you, your image?
I’ve heard that I appear proud and haughty, which isn’t true. I’m very talkative and outgoing. I guess I’m a victim of the first impression gone wrong.
A few things your fans don’t know about you?
I enjoy the limelight and my life as a singer. I don’t have any skeleton inside my closet. Being an extrovert, I really don’t have anything hidden.
What do you enjoy besides singing?
Dancing is my next biggest indulgence. I get into the groove easily and have taken a six-month basic course in classical dancing. I’m sure it’s pretty evident if you go see my music videos.
Any projects in the pipeline?
Besides my soon-to-be released album, I’ve recorded two songs for the films “Drabya” and “Saurya.” Two songs from my album, “Euta phool” and “Huri ayo,” have already been made into music videos; the latter has been directed by Bhushan Dahal.
I’m also doing a film which is being scripted by my father. It’ll be made in the Sunuwari language, and since I’m fluent in it, I accepted the lead role. Why not? Life’s too short not to try everything.
