KATHMANDU, August 15: The vehicles that had left for the Banchare Danda landfill site      carrying garbage from Kathmandu are stopped in the middle of the road today as well. Representatives of local political parties stopped all the vehicles that reached Banchare Danda landfill site in the middle of the road.

Yesterday, the local leaders of the three ruling parties announced that they will not allow garbage to be dumped. Local leaders of CPN-UML and RPP have also stopped vehicles carrying garbage today in support of the same announcement.

Garbage trucks were also stopped on Sunday. Although it was said that 250 to 350 garbage trucks will reach Banchare Danda every day, only 90 garbage trucks reached Banchare Danda on Sunday.

Balendra Shah, mayor of the Kathmandu Metropolitan City, on Sunday, said that someone had taken some garbage to a water source and dumped it there and a garbage truck killed a goat, so the garbage trucks were stopped. He said that despite the removal of those two obstacles, the transportation of garbage was obstructed.
