KATHMANDU, April 20: Two local governments have warned that if the agreement reached with the people of Banchare Danda is not implemented, they will not allow the dumping of Kathmandu’s garbage in the Banchare Danda landfill site after 15 days.
The chairman of Kakani Rural Municipality of Nuwakot and the Mayor of Dhunibensi Municipality of Dhading issued a joint statement and warned that if the demand is not met within 15 days, Kathmandu Metropolitan City will not be allowed to throw garbage in Banchare Danda.
It has been demanded that the past agreement with theBanchare Danda locals should be implemented, the garbage should be managed in a way that has minimal impact, and the sludge of garbage released from the hatchery should not be mixed in the Kolpu River and should be managed at some other place.
The statement was signed by Kakani Chairman Suman Lama and Dhunibensi Mayor Bala Krishna Acharya.
