According the Temple Management Committee, although the reconstruction task has reached its final phase, a dispute has arisen among the Department of Archaeology, Guthi Sansthan and Greater Janakpur Development Committee on the issue of placing a gold-coated roof of the temple. [break]
The Guthi Sansthan provided Rs. two million, the Committee allocated Rs. two million and the Department allocated Rs. eight million for the renovation of the temple. But, the dispute has arisen on the budget of placing the roof. The placing of the gold plated roof in 2,300 square feet is estimated to cost over Rs. 38 million.
Department´s Engineer Narayan Bohara said the task of putting a gold-plated roof is expensive and the Guthi Sansthan is financially strong and could manage the necessary budget as the department has not sufficient budget for the same.
The temple is believed to have been constructed during the 18th century of the Bikram Sambat by Mahantha ( priest ) Chaturbhuj Giri and later it was renovated in 1899 BS under the initiative of Amarsingh Thapa.
