During the discussions with NC Vice-president Ram Chandra Paudel and General Secretary Krishna Prasad Sitaula, Regmi sought support of the major political parties to help bring the dissident political parties on board the election process.[break]
“The chairman requested the leaders to hold talks with the dissident political parties so as to persuade them to join the election process,” Regmi´s Press Advisor Bimal Gautam told Republica.
Officials said NC leaders gave a positive response to the government´s proposal.
Mohan Baidya-led CPN-Maoist, Upendra Yadav´s Madhesi People´s Rights Forum and Federal Socialist Party of Ashok Rai, among some other fringe parties, have announced to boycott the elections to be held by the Regmi-led government.
NC leaders, during talks with Regmi, also pressed him to revoke political appointments made by the previous Baburam Bhattarai-led government and make new appointments.
They argued that new appointments were necessary so as to stop the previous government´s appointees from using their influence in the coming election.
“Regmi said he would study the matter,” said a knowledgeable source.
