KATHMANDU, Dec 21: A meeting of 114 dissident lawmakers of the ruling Nepal Communist Party (NCP) has decided to proceed with the meeting of the House of Representatives (HoR) which was dissolved by President Bidya Devi Bhandari at the recommendation of Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli on Sunday.
NCP’s Oli faction claims it has support of party’s 115 lawmaker...
The meeting, that was attended by 90 members of the lower house and 24 others from the National Assembly (NA) - the upper house - decided to dismiss the ‘unconstitutional’ move taken by PM Oli and the endorsement made by President Bhandari.
The leaders, during their consultation with the constitutional experts and legal eagles earlier on Monday afternoon, were told that parliament is intact as the prime minister has not been given the prerogative to dissolve parliament.
Another decision taken by the meeting attended by the lawmakers and leaders close to the dissident faction led by NCP Executive Chairman Pushpa Kamal Dahal and senior leader includes the call for a meeting of the NCP Parliamentary party on Wednesday.
