"The chairman briefed about the progress made so far with regard to holding talks with dissident parties and on preparing grounds for elections," Regmi´s Press Advisor Bimal Gautam, told Republica. "The president told the chairman that he is very happy with the works done and initiatives taken by the government so far."
Regmi requested the president that the latter personally took some initiatives to persuade the dissident parties and also through the major political parties that are represented in the High Level Political Committee, which offers suggestions to the interim government in taking major political decisions.
While describing Regmi´s concern as valid, the president assured Regmi of doing his best. "I am already taking formal as well as informal initiatives. I will further intensify it," Gautam quoted the president as saying during the meeting with Regmi.
The head of the state and the head of the government have also reached an understanding to finalize and endorse the ordinance to amend the CA Election Act by finding solutions on the differences over proposed provisions. Issuance of the ordinance has been delayed as political parties have differed over some provisions of the ordinance.
Yadav and Regmi reached an understanding that it was time to expedite the election preparation works and create an election wave across the country so that it will inspire more political and social groups to join the campaign.
According to an official privy to the talks Yadav and Regmi reached a conclusion that once an election wave is created across the country, even the dissident political organizations won´t be able to can´t stand against public pressure.
