The local authorities publicly expressed their commitment to make efforts for preservation of environment. Environmental activists who participated in the plantation program urged the locals and community schools to raise their voices against deforestation.

Since the municipality shares much of its land with the Shivapuri National Park, the area has an abundance of natural resources with lush forests and diverse vegetation.

“There is no access to safe drinking water yet in many areas of the country. Saving the environment helps strengthen access to safe drinking water,” said Nyima Yangjen Hyolmo, vice-president at HEACOP (Himgiri Eco-friendly Agriculture Co-operative).

The program spread the message of team-work among the participating students.
